Hitting in extra innings

 

By far, the Los Angeles Dodgers already lost 12 extra inning games and the Rays lost 11 times in extra innings. The Dodgers only hit .225 in extra innings this season and the Rays hit just .172. However, some teams are much better at hitting in extra innings.

Recently, some friends were discussing who’s the best closer in the MLB. Well, Craig Kimbrel is currently the active leader in saves and he already collected 372 saves in his career. However, they had very different opinions when someone was indicating that Aroldis Chapman is better than Kenley Jansen.

High ball hitters

Last month, I watched a baseball game. The home team was leading by one-run in the top of the 9th inning. The closer was on the mound and ready to throw. The catcher wanted the ball to go low, unfortunately, the ball was in the top of the strike zone and the batter crushed it.

Against .500 teams or better

 

A few years ago, I watched an interview. Vin Scully, the Hall of Fame broadcaster, was the guest. The host asked Mr. Scully about the Dodgers performance in the 2015 season. The Dodgers fell to the Mets in the 2015 NLDS. Mr. Scully indicated a very great point, which was that the Dodgers didn’t play well against .500 teams or better. Indeed, the Dodgers won 28 games and lost 37 times in 2015 while playing against .500 teams or better.

Good at a new team?

 

Before the 2021 season, several players signed a new contract with a new team. I’m just wondering whether some of these signings go well. 

2021 Topps Gypsy Queen

The 2021 Topps Gypsy Queen was supposed to be released in the spring, however it came out late. I talked to a sports shop owner and asked why this set had been delayed for so long. He really had no clue. Well, it’s still unclear to know why, but finally, it is available in mid-July.

How did the World Series end?

 

A few days ago, I was watching highlights of the 2020 World Series. Julio Urias struck out Willy Adames to help the Dodgers win the first title since 1988. I was just wondering whether it’s common to see a pitcher throw a strikeout to end the World Series.

Best time to throw a no-hitter?

 

By far, there are 7 no-hitters this season. A few weeks ago, I listened to a podcast and the host indicated that in some stadiums, you usually see a no-hitter in the afternoon. For me, that’s quite interesting. And, I was thinking if no-hitters happened more often in day games than in night games.

Best four-seamers this season?

 

In less than two months, we are going to watch October baseball. Each team has already played more than 110 games so far. And, I’m just thinking of the best pitch arsenal in the majors.

After being traded

 

The 2021 MLB trade deadline was on Friday, July 30 at 4 p.m. ET. Some blockbuster trades did happen. The Nationals sent Max Scherzer and Trea Turner to the Dodgers and acquired 4 prospects. In addition, the Chicago Cubs, 2016 World Series Championship, made several big moves such as sending former MVP Kris Bryant to the Giants.

Open a blaster box of 2021 Topps Heritage

Last month, I was browsing on the amazon website, trying to find some books. I did find some books and I saw some Topps baseball cards available. There were several choices and I decided to buy a blaster box of 2021 Topps Heritage.

200, too many?

 

In 1879, Will White tossed 680 innings in a single season and he earned 43 wins, while taking 31 losses. It’s impossible to see a pitcher throw more than 600 innings in modern baseball games. Additionally, we might not see many pitchers throw 200 innings in a single season.

Hot in July

Last year, the baseball season began in July. This year, baseball season is a marathon. Each team has played more than 100 games and there are still 2 months to go. In July, several players were really hot and had a tremendous month.
