Last year, the baseball season began in July. This year, baseball season is a marathon. Each team has played more than 100 games and there are still 2 months to go. In July, several players were really hot and had a tremendous month.

Joey Votto was hitting .242 in April. In May, he didn’t play many games due to injury and he got only one hit. He did well in June and slashed .293/.369/.520 with 5 home runs. In July, the former MVP just had a tremendous month. He crushed 11 home runs and he slashed .319/.440/.734. He just became the 8th player to homer in 7 straight games.

In addition, Austin Riley hit 9 home runs in July. He has a good season so far with a .290/.372/.523 slash line. Ronald Acuna Jr. is out for the rest of 2021 season and Riley is definitely becoming more important in the Braves lineup. Moreover, Juan Soto hit 9 home runs in the first three months of the 2021 season, but he heated up in July, crushing 9 homers in a month. Moreover, Shohei Ohtani, Franmil Reyes and Eric Haase each blasted 9 homers in July as well.

Walker Buehler has had a great season so far and becomes an All-Star again. He already earned 11 wins and took only one loss. In July, Buehler made 5 starts and tossed 32.1 innings, posting a 1.67 ERA in July.

Robbie Ray’s ERA was over 6 last season. But Ray has a bounce-back season this year and his ERA is just over 3. In the month of July, Robbie Ray took 2 losses in 5 starts, but he posted a 1.99 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. Opponents only hit .175 against Ray in July.

Lance Lynn is currently the ERA leader of the MLB. He made 19 starts so far and his ERA is just 2.07. In July, Lance Lynn earned 3 wins without taking any losses and posted a 2.10 ERA.

Luis Castillo’s ERA was 2.15 in July. However, he had a slow start this season. His ERA was 6.29 in April and in May, he had a horrible 8.04 ERA and took 6 losses. But, Castillo had a 1.71 ERA in June and he has been pitching well since June. His bounce-back is definitely what the Reds want.

In a long baseball season, a player might have some ups and downs. Some players did have a slow start and then heat up in the summer. Juan Soto is heating up after participating in the 2021 home run derby. Joey Votto’s home run streak in July is truly amazing. Luis Castillo has been pitching well since June. Are they going to extend their performance for the rest of the season?
