Leaders in complete games

A couple of weeks ago, I listened to a podcast show and in the show, a guest indicated that a pitcher used to toss 10 complete games in a single season. Well, in baseball, complete games have been very rare for a while.

First inning, score?

Not so long ago, I watched a baseball game on TV. At the beginning of the game, a team scored 4 runs in the first inning. Scoring 4 runs is surely a great start of the game. After watching the game, I was just thinking about a question. Which teams are scoring more runs in the first inning thus far?

Sleep well on the road?

A couple of weeks ago, I listened to one of my favorite podcast shows. In the show, the host mentioned a team’s struggle on a road trip. While listening to the show, I was just thinking about which teams have been playing well in away games.

Non-fastballs, no problem?

Previously, we just saw some teams have done a good job at hitting fastballs. And I also think about another question. How about non-fastballs? Do those teams that hit well against fastballs hit well against non-fastballs as well?

2023 Topps Series 2

The 2023 Topps Series 2 was released in June. Once this product was available, I went to a sports card shop to buy some hobby packs and jumbo packs. I was just thinking whether I could get a hit from these packs. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any hits this time.

Underrated?

A couple of weeks ago, I was just reading some tweets. Suddenly, a tweet drew my attention. It was a tweet with a photo, indicating that a player was underrated. That player is Magglio Ordonez.

Good decision to extend?

A few weeks ago, I was watching a baseball game on TV. During the game, the play-by-play guy indicated that Mookie Betts is on the WAR leaderboard over the last few years with a chart shown on the screen. Indeed, Mookie Betts, who won the 2018 AL MVP award, is a great player. After seeing the WAR leaderboard, I began to think about a question.

Last December, the Dodgers and Noah Syndergaard agreed to a one-year deal. In the 2023 season, Syndergaard already made 12 starts for the Dodgers, posting an ERA over 7 through 55.1 innings. Additionally, he owns a 1.45 WHIP and opponents hit .313 against him.

200 hits are difficult?

A couple of days ago, I saw a post on Facebook. The post showed a photo with the hits leader over the last few years. Those hits leaders are surely good batters in the majors. While seeing those players’ names and the number of hits, I’m thinking about a question.

More disciplined, better outcomes?

A few days ago, I was watching a baseball game on TV and chatting with some friends at the same time. During the game, a friend indicated that a player hits much better than he did last year and another friend mentioned that he doesn’t chase too much this season.

First 4 batters

A few weeks ago, I listened to a podcast show. In the show, the host indicated that a team has a serious problem. The problem is that the team’s lineup might not be deep enough. He demonstrated that the first 4 batters in the lineup are outstanding, however, the other players in the lineup didn’t contribute much.
