April just came to an end. And the first month of the 2024 regular season came to an end. At the beginning of the 2024 season, several players have shown that they are well-prepared and they have a great start.

And by far this season, several players have an on-base percentage of .400 or higher.

Mookie Betts certainly has a great start in 2024. He now slashes .368/.477/.624 with 6 home runs and 23 RBI. Yes, Mookie Betts has an OPS over .470 so far and there’s no doubt that he can get on base. Betts has drawn 26 walks, leading the majors and he was struck out only 16 times. Additionally, he leads the majors with 46 hits.

At the same time, Alec Bohm might be the hottest hitter in the Phillies lineup. Last season, Bohm crushed a career-high 20 home runs and collected 97 RBI, which is the highest in his career. In 2024, Bohm is off to a great start, slashing .366/.438/.598 with 4 home runs and 30 RBI over 31 games.

When it comes to on-base percentage, we can’t ignore Juan Soto. From 2018 to 2023, Soto finished each season with an on-base percentage over .400. In particular, he finished the 2020 season with a .490 OBP. By far this season, Soto has an on-base percentage over .430 and he now has 25 walks. Also, Soto has 8 home runs and 25 RBI.

Moreover, Freddie Freeman has only 2 home runs. However, he has 35 hits and 23 walks so far. Freeman’s OBP is over .420 thus far in 2024. Without doubt, he is one of the most trustworthy hitters in the majors. In the meantime, William Contreras batted .289/.367/.457 with 17 home runs and 78 RBI over 141 games in 2023. This year, he’s even better. William Contreras now owns an on-base percentage over .410.

In addition, Josh Smith only hit .185/.304/.328 with 6 home runs and 15 RBI over 90 games in 2023. Nonetheless, this season, he’s hitting well. By far, Smith slashes .317/.417/.500 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 29 games. Meanwhile, Salvador Perez has an OBP over .410 as well. He now hits .355/.415/.598 with 7 home runs and 26 RBI over 30 games.

Finally, 6 other players each own an OBP of .400 or higher so far this season.

When we look at the leaderboard of on-base percentage, Mookie Betts’ start in 2024 is very unique. He now leads the majors in OBP and OPS. Additionally, his OBP of .477 is much higher than any other players in the majors. Moreover, Alec Bohm and Juan Soto each have an OBP over .430 thus far. Well, it’s just the first month of the 2024 season. It will be very interesting to see whether those players will keep getting on-base. Back in 2020, Juan Soto finished the season with a .490 OBP. This season, we can see if Soto’s OBP will reach that number again. And, what numbers will Mookie Betts show us at the end of the 2024 season?
