It was a Tuesday and I watched a baseball game on TV. A player hit a home run in the late innings. The next week, it was also on Tuesday, I watched a highlight and that player collected an important hit for his team to secure a win.
Well, I don’t know if this is just something random. However, after watching that game and a highlight, I began to think about a question. So far this season, which players like to play on Tuesdays?
To understand a little bit more, I decided to check on the MLB website.
Jose Ramirez is one of the most consistent hitters in the Guardians lineup. This season, he hits .282/.334/.545 with 29 home runs and 94 RBI thus far. He has collected 122 hits and 26 of those hits were hit on Tuesdays. Furthermore, Isaac Paredes, who was traded to the Cubs before the trade deadline, has 94 hits so far this season and 25 of those hits were hit on Tuesdays.
It’s a breakout season for Alec Burleson. He now hits .273/.308/.457 with 19 home runs and 64 RBI. In particular, he likes to hit on Tuesdays and has 24 hits. On Tuesdays, he hits .387/.424/.694 with 6 home runs and 15 RBI. Back in 2023, he smashed 8 home runs over 107 games. Meanwhile, Rafael Devers has an OPS over .900 so far in 2024. He’s surely one of the most dangerous hitters in the majors. On Tuesdays, he already collected 24 hits.
In addition, some players just like to crush baseballs on Tuesdays. Josh Naylor now has 24 home runs in 2024. And most of those home runs come on Tuesdays. By far this season, he already smashed 10 home runs on Tuesdays and his OPS is over 1.200 on Tuesdays. In the meantime, 2-time NL MVP award winner Bryce Harper likes to hit on Tuesdays with 7 home runs. His OPS is over 1.100 on Tuesdays. And Isaac Paredes has 7 home runs on Tuesdays.
Finally, let’s take a look at those players who have collected many RBI on Tuesdays. Josh Naylor has 25 RBI and Jose Ramirez has 21 RBI. At the same time, Isaac Paredes has collected 23 RBI on Tuesdays. Bobby Witt Jr. has 17 RBI on Tuesdays. Padres and Witt Jr. each have an OPS over 1.000 on Tuesdays.
Looking at the players who have hit well on Tuesdays so far this season, Jose Ramirez has 20+ hits and 20+ RBI on Tuesdays and Josh Naylor has 10 home runs and 20+ RBI on Tuesdays. They both play for the Cleveland Guardians. And that makes me wonder if the Guardians play well on Tuesdays. Well, so far in 2024, on Tuesdays, the Guardians have 13 wins, tying most in the majors. There are still several times that the Guardians will play on Tuesdays. It will be worthwhile to see if Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor will hit well on Tuesdays. Additionally, will the Guardians secure more wins on Tuesdays? Even more, will they clinch a postseason spot on a Tuesday?
