Heat up in the second half?

The 2024 MLB All-Star game was over. It’s been around 1 month since the second half of the 2024 season began. After the All-Star break, which hitters have been hitting well?

In the first half of the 2024 season, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. slashed .288/.359/.456 with 14 home runs and 55 RBI. He had an OPS over .800 before the All-Star break. An OPS over .800 is good and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was again selected to the All-Star game. After the All-Star break, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been one of the hottest hitters in the majors. He now has 20 extra base hits. In the second half of the 2024 season, he now hits .487/.556/1.000 with 9 home runs and 21 RBI.

In addition, let’s take a look at the player who won the All-Star game MVP. Duran hit .284/.342/.477 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in the first half of the 2024 season. He had an OPS over .800 as well. After winning the All-Star game MVP, Duran has been hitting excellently. He now hits .333/.388/.633 with 16 extra base hits and 17 RBI.

Meanwhile, Tyler Fitzgerald is a player that’s worth watching in the Giants lineup. He played 10 games for the Giants in 2023. Last season, he batted .219/.265/.469 with 2 home runs and 5 RBI. In 2024, he played 35 games before the All-Star break, slashing .278/.337/.430 with 2 home runs and 7 RBI. Nonetheless, after the All-Star break, Fitzgerald has been unstoppable. He has 16 extra base hits. In particular, he already blasted 10 home runs so far in the second half of the 2024 season.

Bobby Witt Jr. has been outstanding so far this season. Before the All-Star break, he slashed .323/.369/.558 with 16 home runs and 63 RBI. After the All-Star break, he now hits .459/.505/.812 with 16 extra base hits. He has collected 24 RBI in the second half of the 2024 season.

Finally, 3 players each now have 15 extra base hits after the All-Star break. Jake Burger’s OPS was below .700 before the All-Star break. However, so far in the second half of the 2024 season, he has 15 hits and all of those hits are extra base hits. In particular, he smashed 11 home runs after the All-Star break. In the meantime, Soto now hits .333/.443/.654 with 5 home runs and 14 RBI. Before the Mid-Summer classic, Soto did hit well, slashing .295/.426/.558 with 23 home runs and 66 RBI. After the All-Star break, it doesn’t seem that he’s going to stop. Rafael Devers is another All-Star from the Red Sox. He’s probably the most important hitter in the Red Sox lineup. Before the All-Star break, he did hit well, slashing .295/.378/.599 with 23 home runs and 61 RBI. After the All-Star break, Devers now slashes .321/.391/.568 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. He might not crush so many home runs, however, he has 15 extra base hits.

After the All-Star break, several All-Stars have shown that they are not going to stop and actually, some of them even hit better after playing in the Mid-Summer classic. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been tremendous in the second half of the 2024 season. Duran and Witt Jr. aren’t going to stop. In the meantime, Tyler Fitzgerald and Jake Burger each have 10+ home runs so far in the second half of the 2024 season. The Giants fans must be glad to see a new star in the team. And Jake Burger might be the most dangerous hitter in the Marlins lineup. It will be worthwhile to see if Fitzgerald or Burger will blast 20+ home runs after the All-Star break. Nevertheless, the most important thing is to see whether some of those players will help their teams clinch a berth in the postseason.
