Just a couple of days ago, we reviewed some pitchers’ career stats and in the 2025 season, they might reach some key milestones in their careers. Now, let’s take a look at some hitters’ stats and see what could happen in 2025.
Firstly, let’s start with home runs, which make lots of people excited. Kyle Schwarber, without doubt, is a home run hitter. By far in his career, he already blasted 284 home runs. He needs 16 home runs to reach 300. Back in 2024, he smashed 19 home runs before the All-Star break. In total, he crushed 38 home runs last season. Hence, we might not be surprised to see him reach 300 career home runs in 2025.
Secondly, let’s see those great runners. Trea Turner has stolen 279 bases so far in his career. He needs 21 swipes to reach 300 steals. But last season, he only played 121 games and had 19 steals. He has to stay healthy and run to reach 300. And we can’t forget Ronald Acuna Jr., who stole 73 bases in 2023. He only played 49 games with 16 steals in 2024. But so far in his career, he has 196 swipes. Hence, if he’s healthy and 4 steals shouldn't be a big problem for him. Furthermore, Mookie Betts has 188 steals and Francisco Lindor owns 185 stolen bases. Betts had 16 steals in 116 games last season and Lindor stole 29 bases in 2024. These 2 stars shall identify right opportunities to run and reach the 200th steal.
In addition, let’s look at runs batted in. Bryce Harper made his MLB debut in 2012. So far in his career, he has already collected 976 RBI. He needs only 24 RBI to reach 1000 RBI. Harper played 145 games in 2024 and collected 87 RBI. If he stays healthy, it shouldn’t be difficult to see him reach 1000 RBI. Meanwhile, another superstar Mike Trout already collected 954 RBI in his career. Trout is a great hitter if he’s healthy. He needs 46 RBI to reach 1000 RBI. Nonetheless, there’s always a concern about his health. Trout only played 29 games in 2024 and had 14 RBI. And in 2023, Trout played 82 games and had 44 RBI. He missed a significant amount of playing time over the last 2 seasons. If he can’t stay healthy, it will be hard to see him reach 1000 RBI.
At the same time, Anthony Rizzo has 965 RBI in his career and Jose Abreu has 960 RBI. Rizzo played 92 games for the Yankees and collected 35 RBI. In the meantime, Jose Abreu played 35 games for the Astros and had only 7 RBI. It’s possible to see them reach 1000 RBI. However, they have to sign a contract first.
Finally, let’s look at hits. Manny Machado now has 1900 hits in his career. He needs 100 hits to reach 2000 hits. And it doesn’t seem to be difficult for Machado. He had 163 hits in 152 games last season. So, if he plays full season, he shall reach this milestone.
Position players will report to spring training facilities around mid-February. As we can see, some star players will possibly reach key milestones in the 2025 season. Nonetheless, several of them more or less faced issues with injuries. In particular, Mike Trout and Ronald Acuna Jr. didn’t play much in 2024. Nevertheless, if they stay healthy, it will be truly great to see them reach their career milestones. Oh, by the way, Mike Trout needs 22 home runs to join the 400-home run club.
